SWAMI SIVANANDA: THAT WONDERFUL, NOBLE-SOULED MAN - Sri Swami Chidananda
Swami Chinmayananda Swami Sivananda, the Diksha Guru of Swami Chinmayananda, was a tapasvi who lived in a small run down hut that was known to be infested with scorpions in Rishikesh. He would stand up to the hips in the ice cold ganges in winter mornings, commence his japa coming out only when the sun came up. He would meditate for over 12 hours a day. With all the intense tapas, Swamiji never neglected service of the sick. He visited the huts of sadhus with medicines and served them, he massaged their legs. When they felt sick, he begged food on their behalf and fed them with his own hands. He saw narayana in all of them. Thus, after years of intense and unbroken sadhana and yoga, he enjoyed the bliss of nirvikalpa samadhi. This is the legacy of Swami Sivananda Maharaj, to whom we offer our prostrations on his Jayanti today! ============================================================== Saturday 09 Sep 2023 05:30.
